About Robert Ryerson

Based in New Jersey, Robert M. Ryerson has more than three decades of experience in the financial industry. After deciding to make a career change in 1983, he underwent training to become a stockbroker and completed his Series 7 exam before participating in an additional training course at Shearson Lehman American Express in New York. Ryerson spent the next several years honing his skills while working for that major financial services firm. He ultimately decided to upgrade his professional focus, opting to pursue a career as a financial planner to better serve the interests of his clients. He became a Certified Financial Fiduciary (CFF) in 1991.

Over the years, Mr. Ryerson has obtained additional professional designations.  In 2019 he earned the CLTCR designation (Certified in Long-Term Care) and in 2022 he earned RICPR designation (Retirement Income Certified Professional) and in 2023 he became certified as a National Social Security Advisor (NSSA).  He preciously obtained his Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS) designation in 2014 and later released the 2016 publication What’s the Deal with Identity Theft. Along with his longtime business partner, he has taught courses on recovering from identity theft at community colleges in the Freehold area. He also provided expert commentary on identity theft and privacy in a Fox Business article about Facebook’s cryptocurrency initiative.

Throughout his career, Robert Ryerson has dedicated much of his time to educating the public about financial topics. He has hosted online continuing education courses for Certified Public Accountants and frequently speaks to audiences on topics related to retirement planning. In addition, he co-authored the 2013 publication What You Don’t Know About Retirement Will Hurt You.

More recently, Robert M. Ryerson has become an expert in the field of identity theft. In 2014, he earned his Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS) designation and published the book What’s the Deal with Identity Theft in 2016. He shares his knowledge at local community colleges by teaching classes on the subject.
